“I’ve been coming to Health Counts annually to stop my underarm sweating – it works brilliantly and Dr Sandy couldn’t be more professional. Wouldn’t be without it.“ * – Ian C – Stowmarket.
Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition whereby sufferers sweat excessively even when they are not hot. Sweating is necessary to control body temperature during times of exercise and in warm/hot surroundings, and is a normal response to a rise in temperature or anxiety. Sweating is regulated by the sympathetic nervous system. In about 1% of the population, parts of this system are revved-up and working at a very high level, causing sweating to occur at inappropriate times, far in excess of the amount necessary to maintain normal body temperature. It can occur in many different areas of the body, and the condition is known as Hyperhidrosis, which means ‘excessive sweating’. It affects both sexes equally, and all races.
At Health Counts we have been treating patients who sweat excessively under their arms since 2005. By using tiny amounts of Botox injected shallowly, using the finest of needles, we are able to stop the message getting through that prompts the body to sweat. The sweating can then be halted completely for up to a year. Our Medical Director, GMC registered Dr Sandy De ‘Ath is the clinician who conducts all of our anti-sweating treatments.
Dr Sandy’s clinics are held every Thursday until around 7.30 pm and some Saturdays.
