"I’ve been prone to freckles and age spots on my face and hands for years – I hated them. It took just one treatment at Health Counts to clear them. Feel much more confident now. Great service thank you!"

At Health Counts we can treat a range of pigmented lesions using our Q-Switched Ruby laser, or in some cases our long pulsed Alexandrite laser.   The kind of lesions we can treat are brown (melanin) coloured, are high up in the skin surface, and are not raised. So for example, moles would not be suitable.

Typically, the type our lasers can remove are commonly known as age spots, liver spots, freckles, café au lait marks and solar lentigenes. These are all usually found on the face and hands or arms and legs and are a result of sun damage.  The method by which the laser removes the pigment is known as selective photothermolysis.  Essentially, this means that the light produced by the laser is at a wavelength which is preferentially absorbed by the melanin pigment in the lesion, causing it to heat up and break down within the skin, then peel off over subsequent days,  thus reducing its brown appearance.

Skin tags can also be removed using our Ruby laser.  These are typically found at points of friction on the body and as long as they have a sufficiently long stalk, (pedicle) they can be lasered around the base, causing the tag to dry up and drop off.

All the lesions above should respond with between one and four treatments.

Our Medical Director, Dr Sandy De ‘Ath is the clinician who conducts all of our pigmented lesion removal treatments.  The next step would be to arrange an initial consultation (no charge) so she can assess your lesions.
